Senior/Lead Engineer – Design (Pneumatic Valves)

About the role

ROSS Controls® is seeking an experienced Engineer (Senior, Lead or Assistant Manager level) to join its Design team in Ambattur. The role focuses on designing and developing pneumatic valves and related control systems, from concept through to market release.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design and engineering tasks for new product development projects from concept to launch.
• Design and develop components and subsystems for pneumatic valves and related products.
• Conceptualize new designs and optimise existing products for performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Create and maintain design documentation, including 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and design calculations.
• Perform product cost estimation, prototyping, design verification and validation through lab testing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, quality, sales) to ensure smooth project progression.
• Provide technical support to production, sales and quality departments and participate in troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives such as cost reduction and quality enhancement.

Required profile

• Strong background in pneumatic systems, including solenoid valves, regulators and actuators.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Solid Edge or Creo) and solid understanding of GD&T.
• Experience with tolerance stack‑up analysis and DFMEA.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Logical, critical thinking for problem solving and a focus on continuous improvement.
