Senior Staff Engineer – GPU Power Engineer

About the role

Qualcomm is looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to lead GPU RTL power engineering in Noida. You will drive power‑efficiency and performance‑per‑watt improvements for next‑generation GPUs used in premium smartphones and emerging markets such as automotive, compute, XR, and AI.

Key responsibilities

• Perform power‑efficiency and performance‑per‑watt analysis on GPU blocks from early specification through silicon.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and system‑level teams to define and implement architectural, micro‑architectural, and RTL‑level power optimizations.
• Execute RTL power analysis using industry tools and develop automation scripts for data pipelines.
• Debug RTL and gate‑level power anomalies, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
• Support emulation power flow, synthesis, and place‑and‑route activities, ensuring RTL decisions align with post‑layout power and timing goals.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in hardware engineering or a related field.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of RTL power optimization fundamentals, low‑power design patterns, and power‑gating techniques.

Required skills

• RTL power analysis tools such as PowerArtist, PTPX, PowerPro or equivalents.
• Low‑power design techniques (clock gating, power gating, dynamic vs. leakage trade‑offs).
• Knowledge of emulation power flow and backend synthesis/place‑and‑route processes.
• Advanced Python programming for automation, data pipelines, and AI/ML‑driven analysis.
• Debugging expertise for RTL and gate‑level power issues.
