Senior Software Engineer – User & Accounts Systems

About the role

Join DigitalOcean’s User & Account Systems team to design, build, and operate high‑throughput, cloud‑scale primitives that power millions of customer interactions. You will own end‑to‑end technical workstreams, influence product roadmaps, and drive reliability across core account services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable systems for Teams, Organizations, Projects, and Tags, handling millions of events per second.
• Lead the console roadmap by delivering advanced reporting dashboards and notification capabilities.
• Prioritize and resolve technical debt, aging tickets, and security coverage gaps across the domain.
• Architect data models and service boundaries for graceful degradation under load.
• Drive reliability improvements, lead incident response, and conduct post‑mortems for cross‑service issues.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape the Accounts roadmap and assess technical feasibility.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.
• Apply deep cloud security knowledge and Infrastructure as Code tools to harden systems.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience delivering cloud‑scale distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security models and Infrastructure as Code practices.
