Senior Software Engineer - Android, Partner Engineering

About the role

Crunchyroll’s Partner Engineering team is expanding globally and needs a senior engineer to lead Android‑focused partner integrations. You will own the Android TV experience, ensure high performance and reliability, and work closely with product, business development and program management to deliver scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical execution of partner integrations, focusing on the Android ecosystem and Android TV application.
• Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs that meet partner requirements while preserving architectural integrity.
• Improve release processes, observability, and operational workflows to support growing partner traffic.
• Drive performance optimization and reliability improvements across partner platforms, especially on low‑end or embedded devices.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions and hands‑on collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years building and deploying complex systems, preferably with external partners.
• Experience with native Android development (Java/Kotlin) and performance‑sensitive applications.
• Strong understanding of client/server architectures, scalable system design and backend API development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Java and Kotlin for Android development.
• Android TV application development and performance tuning.
• Design of scalable client/server systems and backend APIs.
• Integration of B2B APIs such as billing, metadata or content services.
• Platform development for Smart TV, console, Apple TV or web‑based applications (preferred).
• Familiarity with embedded devices, OEMs, SoC providers or pay‑TV operators.
