Senior z/OS Systems Programmer

About the role

Ensono is looking for a senior engineer to lead the design, development and evolution of its z/OS operating system environment. The role involves applying software‑engineering practices to deliver new platform services, ensure security and reliability, and provide expert guidance on mainframe architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve core digital platform services on z/OS, including automated testing and deployment.
• Implement functional and non‑functional requirements to guarantee quality, security, reliability and compliance.
• Build observability into systems, monitor production health, resolve incidents and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Monitor and optimise Parallel Sysplex and Coupling Facility configurations for high availability across clusters.
• Make critical technical decisions, present solution designs to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in z/OS systems programming or a comparable senior engineering role.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS internals, Parallel Sysplex, GDPS and Coupling Facility operations.
• Hands‑on expertise with SMP/E packaging, installation and system upgrades (up to z/OS 3.1 preferred).
• Proven ability to provide Level 3 support, perform problem management and produce clear design documentation.
