Senior Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector

About the role

RINA is seeking a Senior Rolling Stock Manufacturing Inspector to join its Electronics and System Engineering Division in Mumbai. The role ensures that locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, coaches, and metro trains are built in strict compliance with technical specifications, standards, and quality requirements throughout all manufacturing stages.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑process and final inspections of rolling‑stock components and assemblies.
• Conduct witness and hold‑point inspections according to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Identify, document, and track non‑conformities (NCRs) and corrective actions.
• Inspect welded structures for EN 15085 compliance and review welding procedures, qualifications, and certifications.
• Carry out visual and dimensional checks on carbody structures and critical joints (screwing, bolting, gluing, hybrid).
• Verify installation of electrical wiring, panels, and onboard systems against schematics.
• Witness functional, type, and acceptance tests (FAI, FAT, SAT, SIT, static and dynamic tests) and ensure proper test documentation.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, quality reports, and checklists.
• Audit supplier facilities and monitor subcontractor quality performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in rolling‑stock manufacturing, inspection, or quality control.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with carbody, bogies, electrical/traction systems, and train integration.
• Strong knowledge of EN 15085, EN 12663, EN 45545, IEC standards, and quality‑process tools.
