Senior Program Officer – Surveillance

About the role

PATH is seeking a Senior Program Officer – Surveillance to lead national‑level surveillance and diagnostic workflow strengthening for urban disease monitoring in India. Based in New Delhi, the role will coordinate with the National Centre for Disease Control, state partners and project teams in Patna and Nagpur to align with IDSP/IHIP frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and programmatic leadership to deliver approved activity plans, timelines and KPIs.
• Act as the primary liaison with NCDC and other national stakeholders for surveillance integration.
• Develop and oversee surveillance strengthening strategies, roadmaps and workplans for the intervention cities.
• Support diagnostic workflow improvements, including specimen referral pathways, laboratory networking and point‑of‑care testing integration.
• Lead GIS mapping initiatives to analyse disease burden, identify high‑risk zones and guide evidence‑based targeting.
• Facilitate cross‑city learning by establishing feedback loops to address implementation bottlenecks.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in public health surveillance and diagnostic systems.
• Proven ability to work with national health agencies and multi‑sectoral partners.
• Strong program management skills with accountability for outputs and KPIs.

• Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and spatial analysis.
