Senior Legal & Compliance Associate

About the role

Ascendion is seeking a Senior Legal & Compliance Associate to support its AI‑powered software engineering business. Based in Bangalore (with flexibility for Pune), you will work closely with internal teams and external partners to manage commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and data‑privacy matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts such as MSAs, SaaS agreements, licensing, NDAs and DPAs.
• Advise business, delivery, procurement, infosec and operations on contract terms, legal risk and negotiation alternatives.
• Manage the full contract lifecycle – intake, approvals, execution, renewals, amendments and obligation tracking.
• Maintain a centralized contract repository ensuring documents are up‑to‑date and easily retrievable.
• Review employment contracts, consultant agreements and other workplace documentation.
• Provide regulatory and data‑protection guidance for AI‑focused technology services, including privacy clause negotiation.
• Respond to contractual, regulatory and operational queries from various business units.
• Support senior lawyers in implementing new laws, SOPs, processes and cross‑functional workflows.
• Coordinate monthly legal training sessions and assist in creating templates, playbooks and checklists.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience handling commercial contracts and compliance in a technology or AI environment.
• Strong understanding of data‑privacy regulations and AI‑related legal requirements.
• Proven ability to advise cross‑functional teams on legal risk and negotiate favorable terms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
