Senior Cloud Support Engineer – Database

About the role

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Cloud Support Engineer focused on databases to provide high‑touch, white‑glove support for strategic accounts. You will work closely with customers to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and guide best‑practice adoption across managed databases and cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver hands‑on technical support for database and cloud infrastructure issues across MySQL, PostgreSQL, Valkey (Redis), MongoDB and ClickHouse, including cloud‑native and Kubernetes environments.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues affecting performance, availability, replication, backups and connectivity.
• Guide customers in designing scalable, reliable database architectures on DigitalOcean.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product teams on onboarding, migrations, escalations and incident response.
• Contribute to knowledge base, documentation and automation initiatives to improve support workflows.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in technical support, DevOps, cloud engineering or related roles.
• Hands‑on experience with major database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, ClickHouse) and familiarity with Kafka.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Linux, networking and cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Understanding of database fundamentals such as backups, replication, indexing and performance tuning.
• Customer‑first mindset with effective communication skills.
