Security Engineer III – SaaS & Cloud Security

About the role

Verizon is seeking an experienced Security Engineer III to join its SaaS Security team within the broader Cloud Security organization. The role focuses on defining, scaling, and executing security posture and compliance across a growing portfolio of enterprise SaaS applications.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily engineering operations of the SSPM platform (Obsidian Security), working with application administrators to remediate configuration drift, integration risks, and data over‑sharing.
• Conduct security assessments on third‑party SaaS products and cloud‑based services, enforcing security policies and ensuring secure implementation.
• Act as a trusted technical resource for application owners and business stakeholders, translating complex technical risks into clear business context.
• Design, build, and deploy custom integrations and connectors for Obsidian to extend security monitoring to non‑standard SaaS applications.
• Leverage assistive AI tools (Gemini, Claude Code, MCP) to write Python scripts, automate repetitive security engineering workflows, data parsing, and alert triaging.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SaaS and cloud security with a passion for protecting enterprise assets.
• Strong ability to collaborate with distributed teams and communicate technical concepts to business audiences.
• Comfortable integrating AI‑driven automation into daily security engineering tasks.
