Software Developer – L2/L3 Networking Datapath

About the role

As a Software Developer on the L2/L3 Networking Datapath team, you will design and implement embedded system software for high‑performance data networking products. You will work within a dynamic engineering group, collaborating closely with product marketing, SQA, and other development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze requirements, design, develop and deliver high‑quality software for Broadcom ASICs.
• Participate in software design reviews and articulate system software requirements.
• Propose architecture and solutions for new features and enhancements.
• Experiment with performance and scalability tweaks using board hardware and software resources.
• Lead the datapath team and coordinate cross‑functional activities.
• Write functional and design specification documents and drive sign‑off.
• Interface with developers, QA, documentation, customer support, and program management throughout the product life‑cycle.

Required profile

• Minimum B.S./B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in networking/telecom embedded or network management.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficient programming in C/C++.
• Experience with Broadcom ASICs (Trident, Jericho, Qumran) or Marvell ASICs.
• Knowledge of networking hardware resources such as TCAM, packet buffers, RIB/FIB.
• Hands‑on experience with IPv4/IPv6 routing, PBR, ACL, rate‑limiting, QoS, MPLS, VPLS, VRF, L3VPN, VxLAN, OpenFlow, SDN.
• Familiarity with LLDP, LAG/LACP, Layer‑2 switching, Ethernet.
