Resident Medical Officer (RMO) – Community Health

About the role

Thanal is seeking a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to deliver on‑site clinical care for program participants and local community members in Cannanore. This full‑time position combines direct patient care with health promotion, emergency response, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments, diagnose common conditions, and prescribe appropriate treatments.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper electronic documentation.
• Coordinate referrals and follow‑up care with local health facilities.
• Provide basic emergency care and oversee emergency response protocols.
• Promote preventive health practices and lead health‑awareness outreach activities.
• Collaborate with program teams to integrate medical perspectives into planning and protocol development.

Required profile

• Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with valid registration.
• Experience as an RMO or in a similar clinical role, preferably within community health or NGOs.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, and patient‑management abilities.
• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and culturally sensitive care.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse communities and team interaction.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple cases and program duties.
• Interest in public health, preventive medicine, and community‑based interventions.
• Willingness to work onsite in Cannanore and travel for outreach.
