Research Chemist – Organic Synthesis

About the role

We are looking for a Research Chemist to lead synthesis and scale‑up of small organic molecules, intermediates and active ingredients from milligram to multikilogram quantities at our Innovation Campus in Navi Mumbai.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute synthesis routes, including retrosynthetic analysis and literature research.
• Develop and optimise processes for advanced intermediates and finished products.
• Plan, evaluate and document experiments; prepare technical transfer documents such as lab development reports.
• Support tolling activities and ensure smooth hand‑over to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including research, analytical and safety.
• Follow BASF Environmental Health & Safety and HR policies.

Required profile

• M.Sc. in organic chemistry with solid theoretical knowledge.
• 5‑8 years of experience as a chemist in the chemical, pharmaceutical or agro‑chemical industry.
• Strong communication and technical abilities.
