Research Associate – AI & Data Science

About the role

The Indian School of Business (ISB) is seeking a motivated Research Associate to work with Professor Sumeet Kumar in the Information Systems department. The role focuses on applying artificial intelligence, generative AI, data science and machine learning techniques to address business and societal challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop machine‑learning models to analyse unstructured language and video data.
• Collect, clean and process large‑scale language and video datasets.
• Use crowdsourcing platforms such as Amazon Mechanical Turk for data labeling.
• Conduct literature reviews across computer science, information systems, economics and related fields.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including academic schools and research teams.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
• Strong academic performance, especially in analytical and quantitative courses.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with evidence of academic writing.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet aggressive deadlines.

Required skills

• Good understanding of Machine Learning concepts.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Knowledge of Econometrics and econometric modelling.
• Experience with Natural Language Processing or related projects.
