Regional Sales Manager – Direct Marketing

About the role

The Regional Sales Manager – Direct Marketing will lead a team of sales managers to drive business growth across an allocated zone for Birla Sun Life Insurance. The role focuses on achieving premium and new business targets while enhancing the productivity of the sales force through coaching, process improvement, and customer acquisition initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve regional premium and new business (NAAC) targets through continuous interaction and performance reviews with sales managers.
• Convert key prospects into customers and ensure smooth execution of sales and service processes.
• Design and execute activities to generate prospective customers, keeping the sales force optimally occupied.
• Communicate process changes and regulatory updates via training modules.
• Support sales calls, policy issuance, and complaint handling.
• Manage expense budgets, obtain channel commitments before spending, and maintain expense trackers.
• Allocate resources effectively, recruit, develop, and train team members to maximize productivity.
• Monitor business performance, conduct welcome calls, and ensure persistency targets for timely renewals.
• Resolve customer queries and maintain high service standards.

Required profile

• Proven ability to achieve sales targets in a regional insurance environment.
• Experience managing a direct team of 5‑6 sales managers and coordinating 35‑45 indirect staff.
• Strong capability to coach and develop sales force to close leads successfully.
• Ability to design and execute customer acquisition campaigns.
• Competence in monitoring productivity and conducting regular performance reviews.
• Understanding of expense management and budgeting within sales operations.
• Experience handling customer queries, complaints, and renewal processes.
