R&D Principal Technologist – Cloud & DevOps Leader

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a senior technology leader to drive DevOps, cloud, platform engineering, and reliability initiatives across the organization. The R&D Principal Technologist will shape the technical vision, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the evolution of the CONNECT DevOps platform, partnering with engineering, product, and architecture teams.
• Define and own the roadmap for cloud‑native DevOps platforms, guaranteeing scalability, reliability, and security.
• Champion Site Reliability Engineering and Platform Engineering practices to improve availability and performance.
• Provide architectural governance for software delivery, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, and cloud operations.
• Design and implement compliant, high‑throughput CI/CD ecosystems to accelerate product releases.
• Drive observability strategies using monitoring, distributed tracing, telemetry, logging, and AIOps.
• Develop advanced automation, self‑healing, and auto‑remediation tooling to reduce downtime.
• Establish best practices for Infrastructure‑as‑Code, configuration management, and cloud resource optimization.
• Define metrics, KPIs, and engineering excellence initiatives to raise DevOps maturity.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, SRE or related fields.
• Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong communication ability to influence technical strategy and mentor teams.
