RAMS Engineer – Railway Systems

About the role

We are looking for a RAMS Engineer to lead Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety activities on railway and transportation projects, ensuring compliance with international standards and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and coordinate RAMS activities across the project lifecycle.
• Develop, review and maintain RAMS documentation such as plans, hazard logs, safety reports, reliability predictions and availability models.
• Perform analyses including FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams, Common Cause Failure Analysis and risk assessments.
• Support hazard identification, risk management, safety assurance and Safety Case development.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (signalling, telecom, power, OCS, SCADA, track, civil, stations, depots, rolling stock) to integrate RAMS requirements.
• Assist verification & validation, requirements traceability and compliance management using engineering tools.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, independent safety assessors and assessment bodies on RAMS matters.
• Monitor project performance through RAMS dashboards, KPIs and technical reports, and contribute to continuous improvement and mentoring of junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Systems, Railway Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of engineering experience, including 3–5 years in RAMS or system assurance for railway, metro, high‑speed rail or other safety‑critical transportation projects.
• Strong knowledge of EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508, CSM‑RA and railway assurance frameworks.
