QA/QC Engineer – Structural Steel (Site)

About the role

The QA/QC Engineer will be based on‑site and responsible for ensuring that all structural steel fabrication and erection activities meet project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role involves regular inspections, coordination with execution teams, and maintaining comprehensive QA/QC documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and tests on‑site materials and construction activities to verify compliance with quality standards.
• Review, implement, and update project‑specific Quality Control Plans (QCP), Inspection Test Plans (ITP), and Method Statements.
• Monitor calibration status of testing equipment and ensure all tools meet relevant standards.
• Record and report non‑conformities, initiate corrective/preventive actions, and ensure timely closure.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and site engineers to communicate quality requirements and resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3–10 years of experience in structural steel QA/QC on industrial construction projects.
• Proficiency in English and Hindi (written and spoken); regional language knowledge is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IS codes, ASTM standards, and other construction norms.
• Expertise in civil material testing procedures and result interpretation.
• Calibration and verification of testing equipment.
• Interpretation of technical drawings.
• Quality auditing and Quality Management System (QMS) implementation.
• Risk management and incident investigation.
