Primary Design Engineer – Power & Energy

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Primary Design Engineer – Power & Energy to join our Bangalore engineering team. The role focuses on primary engineering and design of HV/EHV substations for international projects, ensuring compliance with standards, client specifications, and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop primary designs for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations, including equipment layouts and clearances.
• Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sections and elevations.
• Create equipment specifications and data sheets for transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, VTs/CVTs, surge arresters, busbars, and related primary equipment.
• Perform busbar and equipment sizing, electrical clearance calculations, and other primary design calculations.
• Coordinate with Protection & Control, Civil/Structural, Secondary, SCADA and other engineering disciplines.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submissions for compliance with project requirements.
• Support preparation of technical specifications, material requisitions, design reports and engineering schedules.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and site query resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–15 years of experience in substation primary engineering/design, preferably on international projects.
• Experience with engineering consultants, EPC organisations, utilities or power‑sector organisations.
