Postdoctoral Positions in EU Law, Gender Equality and Empirical Legal Research

About the role

The Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for two full‑time, fixed‑term postdoctoral positions (24 months) starting 1 January 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The roles are part of the eFree‑Gender (Gaps) in EU Free Movement Law project, which combines legal and empirical research on gender inequalities in EU mobility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal analysis of EU case law and legislation.
• Develop and apply coding protocols for quantitative and qualitative data.
• Perform statistical analysis of annotated datasets.
• Carry out elite interviews with policymakers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the project’s data specialist and contribute to publications.
• Participate in international research activities and occasional teaching duties.

Required profile

• Postdoctoral researcher with a strong interest in EU law, gender equality and empirical legal methods.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in at least one of the following areas: EU internal market law, EU citizenship, non‑discrimination law, comparative law, EU social or labour law, gender studies, feminist legal theory, critical race theory, or socio‑legal research.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis.
• Qualitative and computational analysis (including content analysis).
• Development of coding protocols.
• Corpus linguistics, computational linguistics or computational legal methods.
• Elite interviewing techniques.
