Payment Analyst

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Payment Analyst in Chennai within its Global Payment Services business area. The role manages operations, maintains processes, supports risk management and compliance with regulators, and focuses on processing international payment transactions accurately and efficiently. It is a shift-based position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives and regulatory compliance
• Process domestic and international payment transactions quickly and accurately, following approved procedures and regulatory requirements
• Handle and validate SWIFT messages (MT103, MT202, MT199/299, MT192/292) and XML payment messages such as PACS.008 and PACS.009
• Monitor currency cut-off timings, SLAs and quality control standards
• Investigate and resolve payment queries using SWIFT, CHIPS, FED and CAMT message formats
• Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to better operational efficiency and client experience
• Develop reports and presentations on operational performance and share findings with senior stakeholders
• Take part in projects that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness

Required profile

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based environment, including night shifts
• Ability to handle high volumes of transactions
• Desirable: strong knowledge of SWIFT messaging, correspondent banking, and detailed understanding of SWIFT fields/tags, IBAN structures and international payment regulations
• Desirable: experience with ISO 20022 XML messages (PACS and CAMT)
• Desirable: excellent analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
