Patent Drafting Attorney/Agent

About the role

eBay’s Patents & Open Source team is looking for a Patent Drafting Attorney/Agent to lead AI‑assisted patent drafting initiatives. Based in Bengaluru with a hybrid work model, you will collaborate across APAC, EU and US time zones to protect high‑impact inventions in AI/ML, marketplace experiences, trust and seller success.

Key responsibilities

• Draft high‑quality patent applications using AI‑assisted drafting tools, translating complex technical solutions into clear claims.
• Lead AI‑enabled prosecution tasks and manage docket ownership for software, AI and e‑commerce inventions.
• Implement engineering pattern libraries and document pipelines to streamline AI drafting workflows.
• Partner with the IPSC process to evaluate invention disclosures and coordinate global filing strategies.
• Educate inventors and product/tech teams on AI‑enabled patentability assessments.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years of combined technical and legal experience drafting and prosecuting software, AI and e‑commerce patents.
• Strong written advocacy, strategic prosecution judgment and high integrity.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid, cross‑time‑zone environment and collaborating inclusively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI‑assisted drafting tools.
• Experience using modern patent drafting and prosecution platforms.
• Technical background in software, AI and e‑commerce domains.
