Nursing Officer – Community Medicine & Public Health

About the role

The University of Hong Kong’s School of Public Health is seeking a Nursing Officer to support community‑based public health programmes and research within the Division of Community Medicine and Public Health Practice. The role involves direct clinical work, programme coordination, and supervision of junior staff across diverse community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate large‑scale community health programmes and research projects.
• Recruit participants, deliver health education, conduct clinical assessments and collect follow‑up data.
• Perform clinical procedures such as vaccination, specimen collection and phlebotomy.
• Maintain accurate clinical, operational and research records in line with professional and safety standards.
• Oversee programme logistics, quality assurance and day‑to‑day service delivery.
• Supervise and train junior nursing staff and field team members.
• Liaise with academic, clinical and community stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.

Required profile

• Nursing qualification registrable with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and a valid practising certificate.
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience, preferably in community health, public health practice, primary care, infection control, vaccination services, health screening, health promotion or related research.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication abilities; ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Supervisory experience and capacity to guide junior staff.
