Nurse Officer

About the role

The Nurse Officer provides comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of patients in a hospital setting. This role involves assessing patients, planning and delivering care, supervising junior staff, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, document and analyse patient assessments using all available data.
• Develop, implement and revise nursing care plans based on the nursing process.
• Deliver direct patient care, including bed making, sponging, mouth and back care.
• Record vital signs (TPR, BP), administer medications, monitor reactions and prepare treatment trays.
• Coordinate with physiotherapists, dieticians and other paramedical staff.
• Assist with patient admission, discharge, transfer-in and transfer-out procedures.
• Check and maintain inventory of CSSD items, dressing trolleys, procedure trolleys, crash carts and biomedical equipment each shift.
• Participate in nursing quality‑assurance programs and corrective‑action initiatives.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to junior nurses and ensure shift handover using bedside checklists.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification from an accredited nursing school (B.Sc. Nursing or GNM).
• Professional licence to practice nursing.
• 1–5 years of relevant nursing experience.
