Module Lead - Technical Product Development

About the role

Exponent Energy builds the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) for electric vehicles, aiming for 15-minute rapid charging. Product development is done by cross-functional squads, each led by a Module Lead who is the single point of product ownership and makes the trade-off calls between cost, timeline and quality. This full-time role is based in Bengaluru.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team through product development end-to-end, from first prototype to mass production
• Define problem statements, prioritise them and choose the angle of attack (design, process, manufacturing or supplier)
• Run design and gate reviews and set validation that proves the product works for the customer
• Focus on customer outcomes such as uptime, cost per km, range, charge time and vehicle performance
• Identify risks early across engineering, process, operations and service and own their mitigation
• Own the product cost target through design-to-cost and should-cost analysis, and the module budget (R&D, homologation, testing, tooling)
• Close the loop from field failures back to design

Required profile

• At least one hardware product taken from concept through production stabilisation, including a field failure and its fix
• 5-10 years of experience building hardware products that reached customers; EV ecosystem exposure is a bonus
• Hands-on experience on the line, at suppliers and in the field
• Ability to lead and coordinate people who do not report to you and to make decisions with conviction
• Comfortable with ambiguity and building things without a playbook
