MES Engineer – Shop Floor Systems

About the role

The MES Engineer will join the Digital Department’s MES team to drive the testing, implementation and support of Manufacturing Execution System solutions on the shop floor. You will act as a bridge between end‑users, plant IT and development teams to ensure smooth deployment and continuous improvement of MES applications.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business units to understand and optimise dedicated processes across the plant.
• Coordinate application training for end users and plant IT staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve MES‑related issues during project rollout.
• Work with equipment and IT teams to integrate machines and IoT devices.
• Gather user feedback and collaborate with supervisors for enhancements.
• Lead SIT and UAT activities and support deployment teams.
• Ensure proper installation of IIoT devices and conduct end‑to‑end testing post‑deployment.
• Provide shop‑floor support during the hyper‑care period.
• Develop training materials, work instructions and SOPs for MES applications.
• Contribute to project documentation such as lessons learned and improvement reports.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, or Computer Science.
• 4–7 years of experience in shop‑floor applications or MES implementation, preferably with Opcenter.
• Strong understanding of business processes in EMS or semiconductor manufacturing.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Opcenter or similar MES platforms.
• Proficiency in low‑code/no‑code tools such as Mendix.
• Knowledge of machine interfaces and protocols: Web API, REST API, SECS/GEM, file transfer.
• Experience with IoT devices (barcode scanners, label printers).
• Basic coding skills for application troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Power BI or comparable reporting tools.
• Understanding of MES integration with ERP, WMS, LMS systems.
