Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer

About the role

AECOM India is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in HVAC & Refrigeration to join its Mumbai office. You will work on infrastructure and data‑center projects, delivering design calculations, equipment selection and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform heat‑load, ventilation and pressure‑drop calculations; size ducts and pipes.
• Prepare and review single‑line design mark‑ups, P&ID, layout and equipment selection (pumps, fans, chillers, cooling towers, tanks).
• Develop design basis reports, tender documents and technical proposals.
• Coordinate with BIM technicians, vendors, clients and internal teams; ensure compliance with codes, QA/QC procedures and sustainable engineering practices.
• Participate in progress meetings and provide cost and quantity estimates.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
• 5‑7 years of experience in HVAC design for infrastructure or data‑center projects.
• Consultancy background preferred.

Required skills

• Heat‑load, ventilation and duct/pipe sizing calculations.
• Knowledge of standards: ASHRAE, NBC, ECBC, NFPA, Uptime Institute, TIA 942, BICSI 002, EN 50600.
• Proficiency with HAP, ANSYS, IES, Six Sigma, Cradle, Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with BIM coordination and sustainable engineering practices.
