Mechanical Engineering Manager

About the role

Surbanajurong is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the design, planning and implementation of bulk and rural drinking water supply projects. The role involves overseeing mechanical aspects of water treatment plants, pumping stations and transmission systems while ensuring high‑quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement bulk/rural drinking water supply projects.
• Select and specify large pumping machineries such as vertical turbine pumps, horizontal split‑case pumps and booster pumps.
• Conduct surge analysis and hydraulic transient studies for pumping mains and transmission networks.
• Lead mechanical design of water treatment plants, intake structures and transmission systems.
• Manage sourcing, procurement planning, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, BOQs, tender documents and evaluate bids.
• Develop operation and maintenance plans for pumping and mechanical systems.
• Handle EOT cranes, valves, air vessels, surge protection systems and related components.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, instrumentation and pipeline design.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering for water infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience with large pumping equipment and hydraulic studies.
• Experience in procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with preparation of technical specifications, BOQs and tender processes.
• Preferred experience on externally aided projects funded by World Bank, ADB, JICA or similar agencies.
