Mechanical Design Engineer – Dimensional Analysis

About the role

Join Tesla's Dimensional Analysis team in Pune, where you will support the engineering design and development of new products through high‑volume manufacturing simulations. You will work across the full vehicle portfolio, from battery cells to large castings, ensuring world‑class quality and precision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform dimensional CAE simulations using dedicated software and communicate results to engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
• Participate in the complete design cycle, from concept through production ramp‑up, on parallel vehicle programs.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Styling, Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and other stakeholders.
• Apply GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5) to define and control dimensional tolerances.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 4–8 years of experience in dimensional engineering, metrology, or CAE.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a first‑principles problem‑solving approach.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and convey technical information clearly.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Catia or a comparable CAD system.
• Hands‑on experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Ability to conduct 1D and 3D dimensional variation root‑cause analysis.
• Experience in multi‑variable capability analysis and statistical testing.
