Mechanical Design Engineer – Automotive Product Development

About the role

We are a young, rapidly growing startup creating a cutting‑edge after‑market bike accessory that offers weather protection and car‑like infotainment for millions of riders in India. We seek a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of plastic and electromechanical components for our automotive‑style products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of plastic models and electro‑mechanical components for automotive‑type bike accessories.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, mechanisms, and DFMA solutions to move concepts to production.
• Support all phases of New Product Development, from requirement gathering to deployment and post‑production troubleshooting.
• Conduct peer reviews and ensure designs meet GD&T and quality standards.
• Analyze and improve system efficiency, stability, and scalability.
• Integrate and validate new product designs for manufacturing, providing mechanical QA support.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to achieve project milestones.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–4 years of experience in New Product Development roles, preferably in the automotive or related sector.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, team‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mechanical design tools: CATIA, AutoCAD, Windchill.
• Experience designing plastic components, die‑casting, and sheet‑metal parts.
• Knowledge of GD&T and design calculations.
• Familiarity with NPD cycles, Quality Management Systems, APQP, and PPAP documentation.
• Hands‑on experience operating 3D printers and CNC machines.
