Manager, IT Development

About the role

Randstad Enterprise is recruiting a Manager, IT Development in Pune. The role owns the end-to-end technical design, build quality and operational health of integration services delivered by a squad, and acts as the final technical decision-maker within it. It also involves leading a small team of Java engineers and delivering integration work for clients, vendors and products.

Key responsibilities

• Direct line management of 3-5 Java engineers, including hiring input, onboarding, objectives, performance reviews, development plans and day-to-day coaching.
• Own the squad's scope, quality and timelines across concurrent client, vendor and product integration streams, escalating risks early.
• Define and enforce squad standards for design documentation, coding, branching, testing, code review, security and release, acting as the gatekeeper on what ships.
• Influence product owners, architects, client IT contacts and vendor technical teams on feasibility, sequencing, interface design and technical trade-offs.
• Contribute to platform-wide architecture, reusable components, shared tooling and engineering practice.
• Ensure the squad's services handle personal and client data in line with security, privacy and data protection requirements.
• Produce and review technical designs, interface specifications and integration patterns, and run code review as a routine discipline.
• Design, write and review production Java code (services, APIs, event consumers, transformations, error handling and retry logic).
• Break down requirements with the product owner into sequenced work, challenge scope where technical cost outweighs value, and plan sprint or iteration work.
• Own production services: monitoring, alerting, on-call or escalation participation, incident triage, root cause analysis and remediation.
• Drive automated testing and CI/CD practice (unit, integration and contract tests, pipeline quality gates, repeatable releases).
• Work with client IT teams and vendors on interface design, credentials, connectivity, data mapping, test cycles and go-live cutover.
• Reduce technical debt, maintain documentation, runbooks and support knowledge, and support hiring and mentoring of junior engineers.
