Legal Officer – Staff Advocacy for Indonesian Migrant Workers

About the role

INFEST is seeking a dedicated Legal Officer to support its advocacy program for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in East Java and Malaysia. The role focuses on protecting the rights of migrant workers by applying international and national legal frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and advice on issues affecting PMI, including criminal, civil, and labor matters.
• Support other staff by offering input on policy development and facilitating advocacy activities.
• Collaborate with PMI organizations, human‑rights groups, media, academia, and government agencies to advance protection initiatives.
• Assist in the implementation of the “Community Activation for Public Service Improvement and Socio‑Economic Enhancement” project.
• Monitor and report on legal developments related to migrant worker protection.

Required profile

• Female candidate actively involved in civil society or organizational work.
• Background in law, human‑rights advocacy, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of international conventions on migrant workers and Indonesian legislation (e.g., Law No. 18/2017).
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
