Lead Principal Auditor – APAC & MEA Fungible Audit Team

About the role

The Lead Principal Auditor will head complex, multi‑jurisdictional audits for the APAC & MEA Fungible Audit Team, ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls across the bank’s regional and portfolio priorities. Reporting to senior audit leadership, the role combines hands‑on audit execution with coaching of audit teams and development of India‑based audit capability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate complex audits and workstreams across APAC & MEA regions, evaluating internal controls against identified risks.
• Plan, execute, and oversee audit fieldwork, including risk assessments, business monitoring, and finding validation.
• Provide day‑to‑day direction to audit teams, ensuring adherence to Group Audit methodology and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Principal Audit Managers, Chief Auditors, Country Heads, and subject‑matter experts to deliver integrated assurance.
• Coach and mentor auditors, facilitating knowledge transfer and fostering an inclusive, high‑performing team culture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in leading audits within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of risk‑based audit approaches and internal control frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage cross‑functional teams across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior management and regulators.
