Lead Indirect & Direct Tax Manager

About the role

Grasim, a Fortune‑500 listed company, is establishing a new Paint business vertical with multiple green‑field projects. The Lead Indirect & Direct Tax Manager will build and oversee robust tax compliance frameworks from the ground up, ensuring accurate filing and strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement tax compliance systems, processes and SOPs for the new Paint business.
• Prepare and file indirect (GST/VAT) and direct tax returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
• Monitor fast‑changing tax regulations and keep the tax team updated on interpretations and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with tax officials and external consultants across India to resolve queries and avoid litigation.
• Lead a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and fostering continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in handling both indirect and direct tax matters for large corporations.
• Strong knowledge of Indian tax laws, GST, VAT and corporate income tax.
• Ability to develop and document tax processes and SOPs for a green‑field operation.
• Excellent coordination skills with tax authorities and external advisors.
