Lead Engineer – Blade Manufacturing

About the role

Vestas is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to drive engineering activities for wind turbine blade manufacturing at our Chennai facility. You will act as the primary liaison between central engineering and local manufacturing, ensuring process excellence and equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Support project activities, process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Improve machine performance and uptime to meet production goals.
• Identify and implement machinery and process enhancements; serve as the daily contact point between central engineering and manufacturing.
• Develop standard operating procedures, provide technical support, and coordinate preventive‑maintenance strategies and training.
• Conduct internal and external benchmarking, generate recommendations, and support cost‑reduction projects.
• Participate in Engineering Change Process meetings, offering feedback and inputs.
• Assist in the development and verification of new manufacturing technologies and processes.
• Create and maintain documentation such as work instructions, P‑FMEA, and test papers.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma with 10‑15 years of experience in blade manufacturing.
• Strong ability to collaborate with global and regional teams.
• Excellent presentation skills and adaptability to changing requirements.
• High attention to detail, solution‑oriented mindset, and strong organizational abilities.
