Labour Welfare Officer – Manufacturing

About the role

The Labour Welfare Officer will ensure statutory compliance and promote employee welfare within Coats' manufacturing operations in Madurai. This role bridges legal requirements, industrial relations, and day‑to‑day welfare services to create a safe and supportive workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all applicable labour laws (Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Shops & Establishments Act, etc.) and liaise with government inspectors.
• Plan, implement, and monitor employee welfare initiatives such as health camps, engagement activities, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
• Foster healthy industrial relations, support disciplinary processes, and assist in negotiations and conflict resolution.
• Oversee welfare facilities including canteen, transport, sanitation, and ensure contractor adherence to labour regulations.
• Prepare regular reports on welfare activities, compliance status, and industrial relations matters; maintain accurate employee records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• Degree or diploma in Labour Welfare, Social Work, or Personnel Management.
• 3‑4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal, conflict‑resolution, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
