Lab Technician

About the role

LyondellBasell is seeking a Lab Technician to support daily quality and production testing in its plastics manufacturing environment. The role ensures that laboratory operations comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards while delivering accurate test results for polypropylene (PP) and engineering plastic (EP) compounds.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that daily laboratory activities meet HSE requirements.
• Perform in‑process inspection and product preservation testing before and after curing periods.
• Maintain accurate data entry and timely updates of test records.
• Conduct daily verification and preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
• Keep the QA lab, injection‑molding area, and sample retention zones clean and organized.
• Prepare and file Daily Production Testing Reports (DPT) in line with ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Exercise authority to stop production when quality issues arise to ensure product conformity.
• Apply 5S, Lean, and VEP principles to improve lab efficiency.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering; a CIPET course is preferred.
• Minimum three years of laboratory testing experience, preferably in a plastic manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, EMS 14001, ASTM and other relevant standards.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic SAP knowledge.
• Understanding of color testing and recipe awareness.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, EMS 14001, ASTM standards and general ISO standards.
