Lab Assistant – Arts and Sciences

About the role

The Department of Arts and Sciences is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to support its Media Lab and studio facilities. The role involves capturing and editing visual content for academic, cultural and institutional events, and providing technical assistance to faculty and students.

Key responsibilities

• Document departmental events through photography and videography.
• Edit photos and videos for publications, social media, websites and archives.
• Assist in creating multimedia materials for teaching, research and outreach.
• Maintain and organise the Media Lab and studio equipment, ensuring functionality.
• Provide technical support during workshops, practical sessions and live productions.
• Manage digital media files, archive them according to departmental standards.
• Coordinate equipment check‑in/check‑out and keep accurate inventory records.
• Set up studios, classrooms and venues for photo, video and live productions.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Media & Communication, Mass Communication, Visual Communication or a related field.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work flexibly during departmental events and academic activities.

Required skills

• Photography and videography.
• Video editing.
• Adobe Creative Suite – Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects.
• Knowledge of camera systems, lighting and audio recording.
• Studio equipment management.
