Key Account Manager

About the role

The Key Account Manager will drive sales performance for a defined territory, building strong relationships with doctors, retailers and stockists while leading a team of Medical Executives and Trainees. This role combines strategic account management with hands‑on team leadership to achieve both product‑wise and value‑wise targets.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve monthly and yearly primary and secondary sales targets for the assigned area.
• Maintain and grow relationships with key stakeholders (doctors, retailers, stockists) through targeted engagement initiatives.
• Conduct regular performance reviews for the team and the territory, and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
• Identify skill gaps, train and develop team members, and ensure adherence to the company’s credit policy.
• Monitor outstanding payments to minimise financial risk.
• Recruit, onboard and oversee field operations of Medical Executives (MEs) and Medical Trainees (MTs), ensuring timely daily reporting.
• Provide market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activities and promotional strategies.
• Resolve operational challenges promptly and escalate unresolved issues to senior management.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of overall experience in pharmaceutical sales.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a First Line Manager.
• Graduation in Pharmacy; postgraduate qualification is a plus.
• Strong competencies in collaboration, stakeholder management, strategic agility, talent development, result orientation, innovation, customer centricity and process excellence.
