Junior Service Engineer

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Junior Service Engineer to support the maintenance of high‑power locomotives (4500 HP and 6000 HP). You will work closely with customer technicians and internal teams to ensure scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair tasks are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and supervise scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities on locomotives.
• Guide and mentor customer technicians, fostering a productive and safe workshop environment.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, documentation, and local safety regulations.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and promote safe work practices.
• Comply with customer‑specific safety policies and environmental standards.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in a shop environment and prior work in the transportation industry.
• Familiarity with operation and training of HVT wheel‑turning machines.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of rolling‑stock components: engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors, control systems.
• Ability to analyse and troubleshoot locomotive faults.
• Comfort with IT systems for monitoring and maintaining locomotives.
• Commitment to safe and environmentally compliant work practices.
