Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

About the role

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will lead the implementation and ongoing management of health, safety and wellbeing systems across UWA India campuses. This full‑time position provides advisory support to managers and staff, ensuring compliance with Indian regulations and university standards while fostering a safe and supportive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct workplace risk assessments, maintain the risk register and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure physical workplace standards (ventilation, lighting, sanitation, drinking water) meet OSHWC Code 2020 requirements.
• Investigate incidents and near‑misses, determine root causes and report to regulators as required.
• Coordinate annual health checks for eligible staff and manage health records in line with the DPDP Act 2023.
• Administer the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the POSH Act 2013, handling complaints within statutory timeframes.
• Manage SHe‑Box portal registration, complaint tracking and prepare annual ICC reports for board disclosure.
• Organise mandatory health, safety and statutory training, ensuring completion and compliance.
• Oversee nomination, induction and administration of members for statutory committees such as ICC, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee, Emergency Response Teams and First Aid Officers.
• Design and deliver annual POSH awareness and training programmes for all staff.

Required profile

• Knowledge of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code 2020, DPDP Act 2023 and POSH Act 2013.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Ability to coordinate health checks, training programmes and statutory committee processes.
• Strong communication skills to advise managers and support employees.
