Guest Service Associate (GSA) – Front of House

About the role

The Guest Service Associate (GSA) is the face of the restaurant, welcoming guests, taking orders, and ensuring a smooth dining experience. This position combines front‑of‑house service, upselling, and basic leadership to maintain high standards of hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly, escort them to tables, present menus, and explain daily specials and allergen information.
• Take accurate orders using POS/MICROS systems or handheld terminals and relay special requests to kitchen and bar staff.
• Manage table service flow, including mise‑en‑place, course timing, clearing plates, and beverage top‑ups.
• Process billing, handle cash, card, and room charges, and ensure correct guest sign‑offs.
• Assist Captains and Supervisors in delegating sections to junior staff and provide on‑the‑job guidance.
• Practice suggestive selling and upselling of signature dishes, side pairings, premium spirits, and desserts.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and health‑code compliance across service stations.
• Handle minor guest complaints or order discrepancies calmly and collect feedback for continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS/MICROS systems and handheld ordering terminals.
• Knowledge of beverage lists, wine/spirits pairings, and local chef recommendations.
