Fire & Safety Officer

About the role

The Fire & Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of fire protection systems, conducting emergency drills, and maintaining safety standards across the building. This role works closely with the Fire & Safety Manager and building management to protect occupants and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain fire pump room equipment, including pumps, pressure gauges, diesel engine oil, battery condition, valves, and fuel levels.
• Ensure fire water tank, beacon lights, and fire‑fighting equipment are serviceable 24/7.
• Oversee smoke ventilation, pressurization, and exhaust fan systems, confirming they operate in auto mode.
• Conduct regular evacuation drills, emergency response planning, and guard training on fire safety.
• Inspect hot‑work areas, PPE usage, fire line valves, and all emergency exits for compliance.
• Issue permits, perform safety inspections, and verify signage, clear egress routes, and equipment condition.
• Participate in HSE meetings, incident investigations, safety committee sessions, and near‑miss reporting.
• Maintain documentation for fire and security equipment, ensuring timely observations and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Ability to ensure fire protection equipment is operational and compliant with safety standards.
• Experience conducting evacuation drills and coordinating emergency response activities.
• Familiarity with inspection of fire pumps, ventilation systems, and related mechanical components.
• Strong attention to detail for checking gauges, valves, fuel levels, and safety signage.
• Capability to work with building management and security personnel to enforce safety procedures.
