Financial Controller

About the role

Merlin Brands, a fast‑growing consumer brand house behind D2C labels Rabitat and Headway, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller. You will design scalable financial processes, strengthen governance, and partner with business teams to drive sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly close, delivering books within a T+10 to T+15 timeline.
• Prepare MIS, financial statements, variance analysis and management reports.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow planning and working‑capital management.
• Establish and enforce financial controls, SOPs and governance across the organization.
• Manage end‑to‑end reconciliation of marketplace settlements (Amazon, FirstCry, Quick Commerce, etc.) and monitor receivables, deductions and claims.
• Partner with business teams to improve profitability, commercial finance processes and margin visibility.
• Lead ERP implementation or migration (ERPNext, SAP B1, Odoo, NetSuite, Unicommerce or similar) including requirement gathering, vendor coordination, data migration, UAT and go‑live.
• Drive finance automation initiatives such as AP automation and workflow digitisation to reduce manual Excel‑based processes.
• Own statutory compliance calendar (GST, TDS, PF, ESI, ROC) and ensure zero missed deadlines.
• Support audits, GST assessments, reconciliations, notices and litigation matters.
• Manage banking relationships, treasury operations, cash‑flow and working‑capital.
• Prepare CMA data, stock statements, lender documentation and support investor reporting and due‑diligence.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring disciplined reporting and accountability.

Required profile

• CA (preferred) or CA‑Inter with 5–8 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a D2C, e‑commerce or marketplace‑led business.
• Hands‑on experience with Amazon Payments and marketplace settlements.

• Advanced Excel for financial analysis.
