Estimation Engineer – Pressure Vessels

About the role

We are seeking an Estimation Engineer to join our Thane operations, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for pressure‑vessel components such as dished ends, rolled shells, cones, expansion bellows and explosion‑bonded clad plates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for various pressure‑vessel components.
• Analyse client enquiries, drawings, datasheets and technical specifications to define scope and material requirements.
• Calculate raw material needs, plate sizes, weights and optimise nesting to reduce material cost.
• Source material from steel mills and traders, understanding mill capabilities, grades, thickness limits and lead times.
• Coordinate with sales, production, QA and purchase teams to validate manufacturability, costing assumptions and delivery timelines.
• Prepare and review technical‑commercial offers, including terms, exclusions and deviations.
• Maintain an estimation/enquiry register and support conversion of enquiries into firm orders.
• Review and develop fabrication drawings and layouts in AutoCAD as required for estimation support.

Required profile

• B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of estimation experience in pressure vessels, heavy fabrication, forming or static equipment.
• Strong knowledge of steel materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, clad and alloy grades) and relevant specifications (SA 516, SA 240, SA 264, etc.).
• Understanding of steel mill capabilities, rolling ranges, heat treatment and delivery patterns.
• Proficiency in reading, developing and modifying AutoCAD drawings and layouts.
• Ability to interpret pressure‑vessel component drawings, datasheets and applicable codes.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments.
• Self‑driven, detail‑oriented and capable of independent decision‑making.
