Equipment Mechanic – $2,500 Sign‑On Bonus

About the role

Charter Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Equipment Mechanic to join its maintenance team. You will be responsible for mechanical and basic electrical repair on a variety of equipment and cranes, ensuring reliable operation and safety. The position offers a structured schedule and a $2,500 sign‑on bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair on baling, shearing, and crane equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and regular inspections to identify potential issues.
• Execute welding and fabrication tasks as required.
• Support the maintenance team with additional duties, including rigging, lifting, and use of precision measuring tools.
• Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, pendant and overhead traveling cranes, and aerial lift platforms safely.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three or more years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety practices, including lockout/tagout and fall protection.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Required skills

• Machining and metal‑working tools (drill presses, saws, grinders).
• Welding and pipe‑fitting.
• Hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and plumbing systems.
• Power transmission components (bearings, gearing, conveyors, fans, shaft alignment, sprockets, couplings).
• Basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Blueprint and schematic reading.
• Crane operation and rigging procedures.
• Use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers).
