Engineer I, Controls

About the role

We are seeking an Engineer I – Controls to ensure our manufacturing equipment operates at peak performance. The role involves hands‑on maintenance, automation project leadership, and continuous improvement within an industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical control systems on continuous manufacturing lines.
• Lead the controls scope for capital‑expenditure projects, from concept and panel design to commissioning and validation.
• Coordinate external system integrators and vendors to align new production lines with factory IT/OT standards.
• Create and update electrical schematics, panel layouts, system architectures and bills of materials.
• Execute projects using statistical process control data and support development of standard performance metrics.
• Provide rapid engineering support for breakdown calls to maximise machine uptime.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and maintain 5S workplace standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Controls & Instrumentation engineering or a related field.
• 5‑7 years of maintenance/automation experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Knowledge of electrical power systems, hydraulic and pneumatic basics, and ability to read power and control drawings.
• Previous experience in cable manufacturing is an advantage.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Delta, Mitsubishi).
• VFD and Servo configuration, PID tuning and commissioning (ABB, Siemens, Delta).
• HMI/SCADA development and troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Delta).
• Industrial communications: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus.
• Temperature controller programming (PID & ON/OFF).
• Electrical power system components: transformers, generators, motors, circuit breakers, distribution.
• ABC/VED analysis, root‑cause analysis (RCA) and FMEA.
• Basic hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting.
