Engine Performance Research & Predevelopment Engineer (Propulsion CoC)

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Engine Performance Research & Predevelopment Engineer to join the Propulsion Performance and Thermal Management domain in Bangalore. The role will focus on preliminary design, performance evaluation, modelling and optimisation of future engine installations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate engine pre‑development activities within the Propulsion System Sizing team.
• Conduct preliminary design and thermodynamic cycle evaluations for new propulsion systems.
• Develop optimisation methods for thrust, specific fuel consumption, size, weight and operability.
• Assess new propulsion concepts and contribute to power‑plant and aircraft optimisation studies.
• Critically evaluate engine manufacturers’ proposals and define specification requirements for new installations.
• Develop engine performance models to support aircraft preliminary studies.

Required profile

• Engineer’s degree (or equivalent) in Aeronautics, Propulsion or a related discipline.
• Experience in engine performance technical activities, preferably in a research and development environment.
• Ability to work with Airbus R&T, engine and nacelle manufacturers and cross‑functional design office teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with physical modelling tools such as Matlab.
• Familiarity with PROOSIS or similar performance‑modelling software.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and energetics.
