Employee Welfare Officer (Mining) - Jharkhand

About the role

An Employee Welfare Officer (also called Labour Welfare Officer) acts as a bridge between management and employees, focusing on staff well-being, statutory compliance, health and safety and harmonious workplace relations. The employer is looking for one person to oversee well-being initiatives, support employee mental and physical health, manage grievances and ensure compliance with labour and welfare regulations. The position is full time, based in Jharkhand, with a reference of 1 opening.

Key responsibilities

• Provide confidential guidance, emotional support and listening to staff facing personal, work-related or stress-related challenges.
• Act as an impartial mediator to handle grievances, resolve conflicts and keep good relations.
• Oversee workplace health and safety programmes, manage medical cover and assistance, run wellness campaigns and organise mental health or stress-management training.
• Advise management on statutory obligations such as working hours, leave rules, maternity benefits, medical care and social security under applicable labour laws.
• Serve as a communication channel between workers, management, medical officers and external statutory inspectors or labour commissioners.
• Supervise worker welfare committees, canteens, recreational activities and cooperative/savings societies.
• Help plan, monitor and control the staff welfare budget.

Required profile

• University degree, with a post-graduate degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Labour Welfare or Human Resources.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources, employee relations or industrial/workplace welfare.
• Fluency in the local language spoken by the majority of the workforce.
