Embedded Software Developer – Metering (Part‑time)

About the role

Join Bosch Global Software Technologies as an Embedded Software Developer focused on smart‑metering solutions. You will design and maintain production‑grade firmware for ARM Cortex‑M microcontrollers, working closely with meter OEMs and adhering to Indian smart‑metering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise firmware for bare‑metal and lightweight RTOS environments on ARM Cortex‑M devices.
• Develop and mature communication firmware (NIC/meter‑side) using DLMS/COSEM and ensure compliance with IS 15959 Part 2 and Standard Bid Documents.
• Configure and optimise low‑level peripherals such as UART, SPI, I²C, GPIO, DMA, internal/external flash, hardware security keys and OTA programming mechanisms.
• Lead architectural discussions, produce design documentation and act as the technical liaison with meter OEM software leads and senior stakeholders.
• Drive robust SDLC practices, own non‑trivial codebases across release cycles, enforce code reviews and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• B.E/B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication or related field.
• 4–6 years of hands‑on embedded software engineering experience, preferably with commercial AMI or smart‑meter products.
• Prior experience as a firmware developer at an Indian smart‑meter OEM is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Expert C programming for ARM Cortex‑M MCUs.
• Familiarity with DLMS/COSEM, IS 15959 Part 2, UART, SPI, I²C, GPIO, DMA, flash memory and OTA updates.
• Proficiency with Git, JIRA, IBM ALM, CI/CD pipelines, CMake/Make, Docker and WSL.
• Experience with low‑power wireless or mesh protocols such as Wirepas, Wi‑SUN or Zigbee.
• Hands‑on work with Cellular/NB‑IoT modems and AT‑command integration.
• Python scripting for tooling, automated testing and log analysis.
